January party

Instead of having our winter celebration at Christmas, we decided to have it at our January meeting.  It was a very relaxed evening, with just a couple of sales tables, lots of chat and lots of food!

There were no activities this meeting, but people seemed happy to just catch up with friends.  

Julie had brought her gorgeous batiks and other goodies (I bagged some Stuart Hillard fabric) and Chris brought all kinds of things from the Bloodwise shop.  This charity shop in Lutterworth has an extensive haberdashery section, and is always my first call for any sewing requirements.

June was rather tempting fate with her raffle prizes, but so far we’ve managed to avoid any of the white stuff here! 

There were several of the 2019 sew a row quilts, all spectacular.  

Keeping to a colour theme was popular.

Sorry this one is a bit dark and you can’t appreciate the lovely applique. 

The houses on this one are fabulous. 

Just to prove that rows can go in any direction! 

Multi colours also look great! 

This is a Linus quilt I made from mainly mile-a-minute blocks, with a few cars for interest.  

This was a kit bought from Hannahs Room.  Beautiful.

This quilt is from Stuart Hillard scrap quilts book.  Very patriotic. 

Next meeting will be a Project Linus sewing evening.  You need to bring a sewing machine and cutting equipment, and I will supply all the fabric.  This is a fun evening producing quilt blocks to be made into charity quilts.  If you don’t want to bring your machine you can still help out by ironing and cutting, and if you just want to come and chat, that’s fine too! 

We are also asking members to bring a 12.5” block (12” finished) with a tree on it.  The blocks will be put together and sent to victims of the recent Australian bush fires who have lost their homes and possessions.  Great cause.
