Taking your needle for a walk.

The July meeting was an interesting talk from Jane Cheshire, which she called ‘Mind Mapping’.  I had done some mind mapping before in my work as a teacher, but this was not the same thing!  It involved thinking of a walk you had taken, whether near home or far away, and representing it in simple stitch.

Here is Jane with her work.  The pieces were quite intricate and certainly repaid a closer look.  Jane very kindly brought fabric and threads for those who wanted to have a go at this technique.  Very intriguing.

Show and tell was short but sweet. Here is a fun piece completed in a class.  I love the cat in the bicycle basket!

This one hasn’t come out very well, but it’s Vicki’s threadplay fish.   The workshop suggested applique for the base of the embroidery, but Vicki has always taken her own path!

This is an example of a piece which followed the workshop rules!  Beautiful.

This is a Linus quilt made of quarter log cabins.  I love quilts which use up scraps!  This one is 2.5” squares and 1.5” strips.

This is a beautiful quilt which has been carefully planned.  It is a straightforward checkerboard design, but the fabrics make it something special.

We always love seeing show and tell, so please don’t hesitate to bring yours to the next meeting.
