First speaker of the year

We were delighted to welcome Gail Lawther as our March speaker and workshop leader.  She brought plenty of her signature ‘stained glass’ technique quilts and wall hangings to show us.

Here she is showing off her stunning phoenix quilt.  Her workshop was to make birds, but not one as intricate as this one!

Here are some of the gorgeous birds produced at the workshop.  All looking so good.

The maker of this beauty regrets that the fabrics used for the blocks don’t have enough definition.

It’s hard to believe, but this is a disappearing nine patch quilt!  (The corner squares are HSTs!)

A very pleasing crazy quilt.

Here is another of our disappearing nine patch quilts made at last month’s workshop.

Intriguing pattern.

Madeleine’s fun chickens for Linus.

Great delicate colours for this quilt.

Another crazy block, but this time with sashing.

The snazzy fabrics make this simple quilt block look really special.

These tumblers were cut by Julie, and assembled for Linus.

Nik kindly finished this quilt.

Chris made this fabulous quilt for her son.  What a super gift.

This Linus quilt will make a child very happy.

Pirates fabrics, ooh arr!

This is a clever arrangement of fabrics.

Here is a lovely trio of bags made by Jacquie.  Very handy.
It was a very enjoyable meeting, and we look forward to seeing everyone in April.

Project Linus sewing evening.

There was no meeting of Piecemakers in January, so the February Linus meeting was the first one of 2023.  Unfortunately I was away for this, but fortunately Paula was happy to run it.  This time we did disappearing nine patch and I made up enough kits for four tops.  Some very kind people took their tops home to finish, but these two came back to me.

I think the colours look good in this selection.

Here is a Disney inspired selection.  We had a donation of some Aldi FQ bundles, which have been perfect for this.
We are looking forward to our first speaker of the year, Gail Lawther on March 15th.   She will be holding a workshop to produce Doodlebirds the next day.  See you there!
