Classic beauty

Our March meeting was featuring a fabulous talk by Gilli Theokritoff, and I think we all enjoyed her vibrant colour choices!

She had started her quilting journey using navy and neutrals, a colour palette which is sophisticated but not joyful.  After being introduced to the work of Kaffe Fasset, she started using bright colours, as can be seen in this wonderful collection of quilts.

Here she is, in front of one of her most amazing quilts, ‘David’.  It is made from 0.75” squares and is incredible!  She offers workshops using various techniques, and we will be hosting her later in the year.

Show and tell was as engaging as ever. First a baby quilt for a boy. Cute.

Next a Linus quilt.  Lynda is still trying to use up the HSTs she was gifted, and I think they work quite well with is piece of panda fabric.

This is another Linus quilt, this time with a book theme.  The foundation pieced pattern is available on
Tall Tales site for £4.82.  A great way to use novelty fabrics and fabric with script on it.

This quilt is based on a Jen Kingwell block.  It is easy to hand piece, and is a fun project for using up scraps and sewing in front of the television.  Gorgeous!

Julie was concerned that she hadn’t finished these cushion covers in time for Christmas.  We assured her that Christmas will be round again sooner than you think!

I love the colours in this quilt!  They sing!

And finally, Edith’s amazing foundation pieced quilt.  I wish I had taken a photo of the backing, as it is mapped fabric, very suitable for the Mariner’s Compass blocks on the front.

The next meeting, in April, will be by a local physiotherapist who will give solutions to quilting related aches and pains. Perfect!
